Free Speaker at Smithsonian in San Augustine: The Caddo

FREE SPEAKER AT SMITHSONIAN IN SAN AUGUSTINE FRIDAY SEPT 13. 3 PM in the Augus Theater. “The Caddo’s Evolution of Life in East Texas from Ancient to Contemporary Times” presented by Dr. Victor and Rachel Galan of Caddo Mounds State Historic Site. They will give an overview of the habitation of the Caddo who settled at what is now Alto, TX over 1,000 years ago, and share thoughts about their journey to the Washington Square Mounds area of Nacogdoches, and discuss their changes in habitation patterns over time. They will then highlight the ongoing deep partnership initiatives with Caddo citizens focused on the revitalization of Caddo traditions and braided land conservation.
