AFSP Out of the Darkness Tyler Walk
September 18 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pmFree
The Out of the Darkness Community Walk is a journey of remembrance and a walk that unites a community – a time to acknowledge the ways in which suicide and mental illness have affected our community.
When you walk in the Out of the Darkness Walks, you join the effort with hundreds of thousands of people to raise awareness and funds that allow the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to invest in new research, create educational programs, advocate for public policy, and support survivors of suicide loss.
Thanks to Walkers and Donors like you, AFSP has been able to set a goal to reduce the annual suicide rate 20% by 2025.
Registration will begin at 9 a.m. and the Bead Ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. followed by the walk. Be sure to arrive early to allow time to explore the resources area. Information tables hosted by local businesses and non-profit organizations will open at 9 a.m.. This will be an opportunity to gather literature, hear about upcoming events, and connect with others who are dedicated to raising awareness of mental illness and suicide, strengthening prevention efforts, and providing support to those impacted by suicide loss. We will have a DJ on hand and a photo booth so bring the team and make lasting memories.
Register for the event as an individual or create a TEAM with friends and family to honor your loved ones. Set up a fundraising page and raise some money for AFSP- receive prizes for different incentive levels. If you fundraise a minimum of $150, you’ll receive an event t-shirt.
